Advancing AI for Common Good Through Ethical Frameworks

AIAE brings together scholars and practitioners from philosophy, ethics, the humanities and arts, science and technology, and policy research — from across China and around the world. Through workshops, lectures, scholar programmes and other collaborative formats, we gather to address the defining question of our time: How should artificial intelligence serve the common good of humanity as a whole?

We invite you to explore our research agenda and join our growing scholarly community.

Partners and Collaborations

Uniting universities, research institutions and platforms at home and abroad to advance humanistic AI and ethical governance through diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary inquiry

At a pivotal moment when artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping human society, the Artificial Intelligence and Applied Ethics (AIAE) project was established under the World Ethics Centre at the Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies, Peking University.

Humanistic AI for the Common Good

We believe that technological progress should not come at the cost of humanistic values. The development of artificial intelligence must be rooted in respect for human dignity, a commitment to shared well-being, and ethical dialogue that transcends cultural boundaries.

We advocate for multilevel collaboration and exchange — fostering ethical innovation and global academic engagement — to establish the ethical foundations and overarching framework for an artificial intelligence that truly serves the common good.
